Note From the Principal
Jan. 6th 2017
Welcome back from a long blustery winter break! I hope everyone enjoyed the snow and were able to stay warm. It was great to see our students this morning full of adventurous stories, but ready to be back at school.
It’s hard to believe fall term is over and winter has begun. During our first term we had a strong focus on literacy. The literacy skills of each and every student was assessed. A new tool was used called IRLA (Independent Reading Level Assessment). Using the information from this assessment, plans were made to address each students learning needs in the area of literacy.
Fall term was also the starting point for our new Site Council. Our council met to look over our school data and improvement plan. We’ve had discussions on ways in which we can improve the way we do business, especially in the area of school culture. This coming month (1/18) we will be talking about ideas for improving our students’ dining experiences during breakfast and lunch. We are in need of one more parent to join our council. If you are interested please contact Mrs. French.
Right before break we ended the term with our program “The Night Before Christmas”. It was a “Hit”! Parents, you have very talented children. We also hosted our “Special Persons Lunch”. Thank you to those who could make it. It adds to the caring community here at Clarkes.
